    In Sweden, his name was Sven Svensson.
    He came to America in 1890 (1930 census). Upon his arrival he changed his name to Sam S Johnson. He settled in the Swedeburg NE area where he had two sisters and their families living. He was employed as a bookkeeper in grain elevators in the aea.

    In 1910 they lived in Richland precinct, Saunders, NE , and he went by Samuel.

    Sam and family moved to MN. in early 1912 due to three years of poor crops, dry weather and grasshoppers.

    Sigrid was a sister of Hilda Pearson who married Lewis Martinson. Sigrid was one of 9 children born to Olof and Maria Pearson.

    Funeral Service in Kingsdale, MN
    A death notice that caused deep sorrow reached friends in Kingsdale MN on Saturday morning February 16, 1935. The message was that Mrs. Sam Johnson had passed away in a hospital in St Paul where she had been taken for medical care. All seemo go well and she had been expected home soon. But the Lord in his wisdom had other plans for her.

    When Nilla and Sven were married, they lived at the farm of Nilla's parents which was #10 Skoglosa, Onnestad Parish, Skane Province, Sweden. Three of their children came to America: Ingar (Mrs. Lars Martinson) in 1870, Elna (Mrs. Andrew Carlsonn) in 1873, and Sven (Sam) in the 1880's. One daughter, Anna (Mrs. John A. Anderson) died in Sweden but her husband and children came to Nebraska after her death. One son of Nilla and Sven, Ola, remained in Sweden and continued living on the farm at #10 Skoglosa. His grandson lives on this farm today (1986).Sven's father, John Nilsson and Nilla's father, Ola Nilsson, were brothers.

    Olof was born in Odartslof Parish, Malmohus Lan. He went to America in the spring of 1869. He came with a friend, Hans Hanson. Both settled in Stocking Precinct, Saunders, NE. They had 9 children. Eight of the nine lived to adulthood and were able to attend their parents 50th wedding celebration in 1922. Olof was the next to last charter member of the Swedeburg Mission Church to die.

Norman, Kingburg, CA. "Grandma Hedlund & Family, Swedeburg" sent a telegram at the time of Sigrid's funeral.
