Taking a scarf for a test drive

Here's the knitting I was able to accomplish this weekend: one round of the Wildfoote sock. That equals 54 knit stitches and 18 purl stitches. And that's it.

But I did take out a scarf (the one I knit for my mom for Christmas) for a test drive. I wore it with my leather jacket to go the art museum. I thought it looked pretty snappy; I might have to knit one of these for myself. Don't tell mom I borrowed her scarf.

The highlight of the art museum was this painting:

The exhibit was more or less in chronological order; the farther along we went, the less I could relate to the art. (I did like Klee, though.) I do not have much of an artistic brain, I'm afraid.

I do not have much of an artistic brain

You're joking, right? All that color and texture in the knitting, all the angles and ideas and principles of water projects, the "joyful noise" of accompanying congregational singing... If you will not claim an artistic brain, at the very least I have to bust you for having an artistic soul.

Next weekend Alys and Fran and I are going down to DAM. Frankly, my advance take on the exhibit is that it has quite a few paintings that, by now, mostly are famous for being famous. I'm going because Alys wants to and because Fran has been longing to... and to see Klee and Matisse.

Well, I guess I differentiate between 'true artist' and 'skilled artisan.' If I wrote the knitting patterns, if I wrote the music, if I designed the water projects - well, then we could talk about artistry.

Don't feel like The Lone Ranger...I haven't knit "a" stitch since Sunday...or was it Saturday? Been so long, I can't remember...Tis the Season!
